Falz, a well-known Nigerian rapper, has explained why he attacked Prof. Mahmood Yabuku, Chairman of the Independent National Election Commission, INEC, in his most recent song.
According to him, the song "Yakubu" is based on "his truth" on the elections.
"INEC's performance in the just concluded elections was a massive mess," the singer who denounced the violence and election-related manipulation remarked.
There is not a single thing that Vector or I are saying on this record that hasn't happened," he stated.
"We are not inventing information, making things up, or imagining events that never happened.
"We are reporting events to you as they happen."
"We walked out and cast our votes, and then all of a sudden, everything was dispersed in front of our eyes. Even after we were aware of multiple instances of violence, nothing was done about it.
