Your campaign pictures part of your battle scars – Yul Edochie to Funke Akindele

 After her defeat in the March 18 gubernatorial election, well-known Nigerian actor and filmmaker Yul Edochie has sent an open letter to Nollywood actress-turned-politician Funke Akindele.

The incumbent governor, Babajide Sanwo Olu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), defeated Akindele, the running mate of Abdulazeez Adediran, also known as Jandor, of the Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Remember when Funke deleted all political posts from her social media profile hours after she was defeated?

In response to this, Yul encouraged the actress to add the pictures back to her page because they would serve as a reminder of her accomplishments and battle scars. Yul's open letter was posted on Instagram.

He wrote: "To my good colleague, @funkejenifaakindele" in a lengthy post.

"I want to congratulate you on the audacious political decision you made to run for deputy governor of Lagos State. You performed admirably. I saw that you took down all of your Instagram campaign photos. Of course, it's neither my place to sit in my home and inquire about your motivations nor is it my concern.

But I want to encourage you and everyone else out there as a concerned friend and coworker. A fighter never regrets having combat wounds. The scars provide as physical evidence that you engaged in combat and survived. You are a fighter.

Such pictures ought to stay on your page indefinitely. For you, it's a crucial time in history. and an uncommon honor. Don't let people who mock you for losing get to you down. whatever happens.

"You were chosen from among the millions of Lagosians. Being allowed to serve is both a human and spiritual honor. It serves as the starting point of your political career.

"Funke, you will look at your first campaign pictures and feel tears of joy in your eyes someday when you sit in your office as a Deputy Governor, Governor, or President."
