“I grew up in the streets of Bariga, hustling every day just to survive. Music was my only escape, and when I dropped ‘Lyrically,’ Olamide heard it and signed me to YBNL on the spot. That moment changed everything. Being part of YBNL under Olamide gave me freedom to create, and hits like Shoki blew up when I was just 19 or 20.
Suddenly fame hit me hard – the parties, the attention, the pressure. I couldn’t handle it anymore; the limelight at such a young age stole normal life experiences and left me battling anxiety and what I believe is undiagnosed ADHD. It became overwhelming, so I had to step back, focus on my mental health, and choose myself.
I left YBNL after my contract ended to start my own label YAGI because I wanted full control, though it wasn’t easy financially at first. Olamide was always supportive even after the split – he’s a real one who lifted many of us. Now I’m more grounded, still dropping music, and encouraging young artists to stay focused. The journey taught me success comes with its own battles, but with the right mindset, you keep pushing.”
